It also is ideal for individuals recovering from surgery, injury or generally struggling with ‘undiagnosed’ niggles that worsen rather than better themselves with rest and time. It might also alleviate feelings of limitation in postures (yogic or otherwise!) or particular ranges of movement or ways of sitting at a desk or re-discovering perceptual and gait patterns post-surgery/injury. Dr Robert D. Farnell completed his medical education at St George's Hospital Medical School in London, graduating in 1990.
I obtained my medical degree at the University of Leeds and trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the South East of England. I completed my specialist hand surgery training in Sydney, Australian. I am a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hand surgery.

New problems - occasionally surgery on the hand, if extensive, can cause other problems such as trigger finger (5-32%). On the day of surgery, you will be admitted by a nurse who will check your details, medications and trigger finger treatment leeds past medical conditions and put a wrist band with your details on the arm we are not operating on . In mild cases it comes on when the wrist is held bent in one direction for a long period of time or at night time.
More than 80% of patients trust Google when they want to find a practitioner. You can shower or bath as normal once the wounds are healed, but prior to that you need to keep the hand dry. If you have any issues such as scar pain we will arrange for you to see the Hand Therapist who will help. If dissolvable, stiches will start to fall out when washing your hand between 2-3 weeks. If the stitches are not dissolvable we will arrange to remove them either in the clinic or at your GP. The dressings will be changed between five and seven days in the clinic.

Relieve nerve pain from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with a procedure carried out by one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons at our clinic in Leeds. If the doctor decides you  need an appointment, you will be contacted and able to book an appointment. If you are instructed to wear a sling, please ensure you remove your arm from the sling every 1 to 2 hours and exercise the shoulder and elbow to prevent them from getting stiff.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common conditions we treat as hand surgeons. The symptoms of pain and tingling or numbness in the hand and fingers can be very unpleasant. It often occurs during the night but can be a problem during the day whilst driving or using the telephone for example. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compression of the median nerve that causes tingling, numbness, pain and/or weakness in the arm and upper extremities. The median nerve supplies sensation to the thumb, index, middle and, occasionally, the ring fingers, and also supports motor function in a muscle in the thumb. The carpal tunnel is a channel in the wrist through which the nerve passes from the arm through to the hand.
For example, you may need to stop taking certain medications in the days leading  up to the operation. This can include anticoagulant medicines, otherwise known as blood thinning medication. As part of carpal tunnel surgery, the ligament is divided, releasing pressure in the carpal tunnel to ultimately ease your symptoms. Our consultant plastic surgeons achieve consistently excellent results, and your eyelid surgery will be no exception.

Time off from work varies based on the patient and type of occupation. Most patients can return to desk work or light activities within 1 to 2 days. Patients who have more physically demanding jobs may need a few weeks to return to full duty. Most patients can resume doing their daily activities within a few days after surgery.
A local anaesthetic is applied and an incision is made into your wrist and base of your hand, on the palm side. If left untreated, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can cause permanent numbness and thumb weakness. However, if surgery is performed, worsening nerve damage is often prevented and nighttime symptoms can be quickly reversed.
